The Scheme, The Team, The Dream

It was originally envisaged that the layout would be run completely through a computer and Digital Command Control (DCC), with the exception of certain areas that would always be controlled manually (using DCC) with just one or two people. That meant it would always be fun to operate!

In order for Train Controller to run trains it has to know where the trains are. Take a look to see how we set up the computer to be able to "see" where trains are on the layout.

The activities of the Station Managers presented us with an interesting challenge. Read on to find out how we overcame the problem of keeping the Station Managers and the computer in synchronisation.

Such is the complexity of the layout of McKinley Railway, if everything was worked manually there would be a lot of tedious repetitive work involved. Come and be enlightened how Train Controller makes life so much simpler.
